In Situ
Vancouver General Hospital Foundation
The Vancouver General Hospital (VGH) and UBC Hospital Foundation runs a program called Gifts of Art whereby artists and collectors donate visual art to the facilities. The goal of the program is to enhance the healing environment by beautifying and bringing inspiration to the patients, families and staff at the hospitals. The program originated in 2000, and the hospital now has a collection of over 1,200 pieces.
Having spent many hours visiting at the hospital in the fall of 2013, I became inspired to make a donation to Gifts of Art. I felt further inspired to involve the community, asking for their input and inspiration by way of photo submissions to help broaden the spirit of giving. (I am grateful for the many entries I received and will be awarding limited editions of the paintings to two MyInspirationGS contest winners.) The result was a 13’ triptych for the Jim Pattison Pavilion Dialysis area on the main floor. It is an amazing feeling to know that my work is part of the Gifts of Art program and that it can help contribute to the healing environment at VGH. I am grateful to Mr. Jim O’Hara, Vice President, Leadership Giving, VGH & UBC Foundation, for allowing me to become part of this wonderful program, and I encourage other artists and collectors to become involved.
“Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.”
Fortius Sport and Health
Fortius Sport and Health is a world-class integrated sports medicine and training facility located in Burnaby, BC, occupying 148,000 square-feet. I am very proud to have my work displayed throughout this fabulous facility. I’m also thankful that Fortius commissioned me to create a 13′ triptych for their main reception, and purchased numerous other pieces for their permanent collection.
Herman Miller Workplace Resource
Workplace Resource is a Herman Miller owned certified dealer located in downtown Vancouver. Herman Miller is a world-renowned furniture icon and leader in research and development so I’m thrilled that they commissioned and purchased numerous large-scale pieces of my work for their space as part of their permanent collection. Other pieces are also displayed that are still available for sale. Clicking on the photos provides details on which paintings are still available.
“We are proud to have Gina Sarro’s artwork grace our walls at Workplace Resource. When Gina first approached us I was very impressed with her work. However, I wanted to get buy-in from a few of our internal team members, especially our interior designers, as artwork is very personal and it usually garners lots of feedback. Gina worked effectively with our team to understand our requirements and meet our limited budget. Gina even tailored her work to meet some of the colour trends in our showroom. We work closely with many corporate clients and the Architectural community, and while we are in the furniture business, we really want to ensure we have a customer experience that goes beyond furniture. We have referred many of our contacts to Gina, and they have all been impressed with her work and follow up.Gina’s art not only makes our showroom look great to our many visitors, it has also stood the test of time without losing the initial feel that we had for it. On a personal note, when I look at some of Gina’s work, it lifts my spirit. For someone who was simply trying to put art on our walls, that is quite a statement. We have no hesitation in recommending Gina Sarro, and invite anyone that is interested to join us in our showroom for a walkthrough.”
Collette Parsons Harris
Collette Parsons Harris is a boutique, and very successful, personal injury law firm located in downtown Vancouver. They have beautiful new offices, and it was a pleasure to provide them with a few of my pieces for their permanent collection.
VGH Neurology Department
It was a honor to be commissioned by the Neurology Department at The Gordon and Leslie Diamond Health Care Centre, which is part of Vancouver General Hospital (VGH), to produce a collection of paintings for the department on the 8th floor. The department wanted to offer a space that is calming and inviting to their patients, and it is a wonderful feeling to help contribute toward that goal.

Vancouver Private Residences
While art obviously helps to beautify one’s home and should fit with the design of the space, it can also elicit and elevate an emotional response. So I’m very grateful when I see my work displayed in private residences.
This collection also features three works that were commissioned to be painted in my style, but are more representational than I often paint.
“I commissioned Gina to do an important and quite personal piece for our family – a painting of our garden and family home. I didn’t just want another realist reproduction of the house. Those are quite common and I wanted something different. I wanted something deeper. Gina took considerable time to understand what I wanted. She made me feel comfortable that with her interpretive approach and enough artistic license, she could produce something that would resonate and make my family proud. Gina did deliver. She exceeded my expectations and my family was very pleased with the result. Gina is an accomplished landscape artist. She didn’t just paint our home. She painted a beautiful landscape of our property, where our home seamlessly forms part of the landscape. Gina provided us with a beautiful and very personal piece of art that our family will treasure for years.”
